EARLY LIFE: Hang Lee was born on October 9, 1975. Of Laotian descent, she and her family were refugees who’d moved to St. Paul, Minnesota, when she was a young girl. One of 14 children, she was fluent in both English and Hmong, which allowed her to translate for her parents, who spoke little English.
