DISCOVERY:

On February 6, 1986, skeletal remains were found at a trash dump on 2nd Avenue, between 31st and 34th Streets, in an industrial area of Tampa, Hillsborough County, Florida.

AUTOPSY:

According to the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner, the decedent perished between three and eight weeks prior to her remains being discovered. A cause of death couldn’t be determined.

DETAILS:

Jane Doe is described as an African-American female with possible Asian admixture. She was around 16-22 years old, stood between 4’9″ and 5’4″, and had brown hair with a kinky texture. Given the state of the remains, her weight and eye colour are unknown.

The decedent’s teeth were in poor condition, with no existing restorations. Some of the untreated teeth likely caused her pain, and she had a severe, anterior open bite malocclusion, which is commonly seen in those who sucked their thumb as a child.

It’s believed Jane Doe may have given birth at least once in her life. She had healed injuries to the left side of her face and nose, which would have caused a deviated septum, and congenital defects in her spine. However, she may not have been aware of the latter; it’s unknown if the defects would have caused her any physical discomfort.

Forensic testing suggests she was likely born and raised in Florida.
