EARLY LIFE
Anastasia Ferriera was born on December 9, 2003, to Natalia Padilla and Anthony Ferriera. An only child, she was known for her larger-than-life personality and her love for animals and drawing. She was also a daredevil who pushed boundaries and wasn’t afraid to speak up for herself.
Despite her playful nature, Anastasia’s early life was also marked by trauma and the desire for stability. This likely influenced her behaviour later in life. As she got involved with the wrong crowd, she began struggling with illegal substances. Prior to her disappearance, she’d also run into issues with the law, being charged with accepting or transferring a stolen vehicle and aggravated fleeing of law enforcement.
DISAPPEARANCE
Anastasia was last seen on the evening of March 15, 2023, at a house party in the 300 block of Charleston SE, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. At some point, she was asked to leave after getting into an argument with the homeowner and left the premises. According to reports, she texted an unidentified man and made plans to meet up with him.
The 19-year-old’s cellphone last pinged at 8011 Central Avenue NE, at a community outreach centre known as God’s Warehouse, on March 16. It’s known for feeding the homeless and providing other resources. While there were signs alerting to surveillance cameras running on the property, they weren’t actually working that night.
INVESTIGATION
Upon learning of Anastasia’s disappearance, local law enforcement searched God’s Warehouse, visiting the premises numerous times, including once with canines. They also interviewed three people she’d been in contact with on Facebook Messenger, but those conversations didn’t lead anywhere.
Unhappy with how the Albuquerque Police Department has handled the investigation, Anastasia’s family have taken matters into their own hands. Natalie regularly visits the neighbourhood where her daughter’s cellphone last pinged, handing out flyers in the hopes someone will remember something and come forward. She’s also been active in putting up billboards and running radio ads, to keep Anastasia’s case in the public eye.
Despite several years passing since the 19-year-old went missing, little has been released regarding the case. All that’s known is that none of her belongings have been recovered.
