The Disappearance of Cecilia Nikal

DISAPPEARANCE:

On August 1, 1989, Cecilia Nikal arrived in Vancouver, British Columbia, to visit her mother. Shortly after, she left the residence to live on the streets.

Cecilia’s mother last saw her that October. Another family member reported that the missing teenager had moved to Vancouver Island, approximately 173 km away, but this information has never been confirmed.

SEARCH:

Very little has been revealed regarding the investigation into Cecilia’s disappearance, other than it’s being treated as a suspected homicide. It’s speculated she may have been a victim of the Highway of Tears. Over the decades, several women have gone missing or turned up dead along the 719-km stretch of Highway 16, between Prince Rupert and Prince George, British Columbia.

Tragically, Cecilia isn’t the only member of her family to have gone missing. In 1988, her cousin, Roberta Nikal, disappeared near Surrey, British Columbia, while Delphine Nikal, another cousin, vanished near Smithers.

DETAILS:

Cecilia Mary Nikal was last seen in October 1989 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. She was between 15 and 18 years old at the time (sources differ), and it’s possible she’d been spotted on Vancouver Island.

At the time of her disappearance, Cecilia had a slender build, standing between 5’4″ and 5’5″ and weighing around 120 to 128 pounds. She had short black hair and brown eyes.

CASE CONTACT INFORMATION:

Cecilia’s case is currently being treated as a suspected homicide. Some agencies spell her first name “Cicilia” or state that her middle name is “Anne”.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Vancouver Police Department at (604) 717-2530. Tips can also be called into Crime Stoppers at +1 (800) 222-8477.
