April 14, 2022:
York Regional Police have arrested a 23-year-old man and issued a Canada-wide warrant for another in connection to the December 2021 attack on missing woman Elnaz Hajtamiri.
On April 13, 2022, police executed a warrant on a Brampton, Ontario residence and arrested Riyasat Singh of Mississauga on charges of attempted kidnapping, attempted murder, mischief under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
The second man, Harshdeep Binner of Brampton, is still at large.

The pair are accused of assaulting Hajtamiri in the parking garage of her Richmond Hill, Ontario condo building on December 20, 2021. They attacked her with a frying pan before fleeing the scene in a stolen vehicle. Hajtamiri was taken to hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Just a few weeks later, she was abducted from a relative’s home in Wasaga Beach, Ontario. On the evening of January 12, 2022, three Black men dressed in police-issued gear forced their way into the residence, grabbed Hajtamiri and drove away in a white Lexus RX. It’s believed Singh and Binner are either connected to the abduction or know the identities of those responsible.
Police have not publicly named any suspects in connection to Hajtamiri’s abduction. Anyone with information regarding the assault, abduction or her whereabouts are asked to contact the York Regional Police’s dedicated tip line at 1-866-876-5423 ex. 7250.
