EARLY LIFE:

On March 21, 1996, tourists were walking along a private beach behind 32554 Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, Los Angeles County, California. While out, they came across the partial skeletal remains of an infant washed up in the sand.

AUTOPSY:

An autopsy was performed upon Jane Doe’s body being brought to the coroner’s office, where it was determined she’d died 5 to 10 days prior to being found on the beach.

Her cause of death was a subdural hematoma, the likely result of shaken baby syndrome. This indicates she may have been abused while alive.

DETAILS:

Given the level of decomposition, Jane Doe’s race was unable to be determined. It’s believed she was likely 1 to 2 years of age, standing at 2’9″ tall and weighing between 15 and 33 pounds. Her skull only featured four teeth – two on top and two on the bottom. She may have suffered from bronchopulmonary dysplasia, likely due to premature birth, and she may have been on a ventilator immediately after she was born.

Jane Doe is one of many unidentified infants and young children who have been posthumously adopted by a Debi Faris-Cifelli, founder of the Garden of Angels. She has since been buried beneath a headstone reading “Dora”, a name she was given upon Debis giving her a final resting place.

A DNA sample was taken from Jane Doe’s remains and has been sent to the California Department of Justice’s DNA lab in Richmond, California.

Jane Doe’s dentals and DNA are available for comparison.
