Stories of the Unsolved Launches Patreon

Stories of the Unsolved launched in August 2018 as a way for me to combine my two main interests: writing and true crime. Over the past few years, it has experienced a growth I never could have expected – and so have the reasons for keeping the website live and updated. A place where I would anonymously share my love for true crime has turned into one where I work to raise awareness about unsolved cases, in the hopes of helping the families of those involved find some kind of closure. I can only imagine the pain they are experiencing, and my hope now is that Stories of the Unsolved will prompt someone to come forward with any information they may have, so that these unsolved cases may eventually become solved.

The average article on Stories of the Unsolved takes about a day or two to prepare. My aim is to collect all the pertinent information and put it together, so that those interested in learning more about the cases need only make one stop, not many, when looking for the whole picture. Therefore, I try my best to locate as much information as possible – via news articles, online videos, forum posts, etc. – and do my best to sift through it all, so that only what is factual is presented. It’s a lot of work, but I enjoy it, and as I aforementioned, if it means I’m helping in any way, then I’m more than happy to do it.

Given how well the website is doing, I’ve decided to launch a Patreon page. By supporting Stories of the Unsolved on Patreon, you will not be paying my personal salary. I have never expected to make money from this, nor has it ever been a goal of mine. As I said, I run it because I care about the cases and love to write. Any money earned from Patreon will go directly to site maintenance – meaning the domain name and the WordPress subscription, as Stories of the Unsolved is hosted on it, along with any other related future endeavours. I do not wish to run banner ads, as I don’t want to take away from the content being posted, and the thought of doing any sponsored content or affiliate links in relation to the cases I cover doesn’t sit right with me.

There is no tier system and no minimum monthly donation required. I’ve left it open, meaning you can donate as little as $1, to anything higher than that. I hope you’ll consider signing up. Hopefully I’ll be able to grow the Patreon to include perks, should enough support be shown.

The Stories of the Unsolved Patreon page can be found here.

Thank you!
